Rick Cunha - vintage guitars, ukulele, slack-key guitar, vocals
Ricks grandfather was Sonny Cunha, renown turn-of-the-century Hawaiian songwriter and singer who helped developed the Hapa Haole style, so it is only fitting that Rick has continued the family tradition of the art of playing ukulele. In the 1960’s, Ricks country rock band, ‘Hearts and Flowers’ went top forty on the charts and is considered to be one for the legendary bands that helped develop the Country Rock sound that we know of today. As an award-winning songwriter, Ricks songs have been performed by the Smothers Brothers, Jennifer Warrens, Don Ho and Mason Williams. In his own way, Rick is the ‘Johnny Cash’ of the Goin’ South Band. |
